Create Five Trollbead Bracelets from One!

www.trollbeadsgallery.com

When it comes to our Trollbeads collections we are always trying to come up with a new way to use our beads and to get the most mileage we can with the beads we have. Ideally you would like to use your Trollbeads with as many colors as you have in clothes in your closet. Am I right?

I think this exercise is particularly useful for new Trollbeads collectors. With a basic group of say 10 glass Trollbeads in black and whites and only 3 larger silver Trollbeads you have the core of many, many very useful bracelets. As you can see from the featured photograph we have used 5 distinct color groups and used only 4 interchangeable beads on each bracelet to create a unique look. There are so many colors within Trollbeads to work with and so many different medium options. From the glass you can branch out and use Amber, Picasso Jasper, the new limited edition Agates and so forth. Then once you have completed this collection you can move on to pulling out the black and replacing them with browns and taking out the white and using the off whites. The core beads still consist of a neutral palette but a warmer one. With this warmer core you can add aqua blues, which are sensational with browns, olive greens and a host of other warm colors.

Glass Trollbeads

This is a good reminder for all of us to enjoy our Trollbead bracelets  in many different ways. One of our Trollbeads Gallery Forum members noted that this is an ideal way to bring your Trollbeads on vacation!  One Trollbead Bracelet with many looks!

"How I Met Trollbeads" by Anna Teresa Bellinzis, Guest Blogger.

Posted by Louise Rogers on Thu, Mar 24, 2011 @ 17:03 PM

Trollbeads Gallery Blog photo How I met Trollbeads!

I have always loved jewellery. I am a Leo and like to express myself. With my outfits, my hair, my accessorizes. About eight years ago I started to make my own necklaces and bracelets. I sat in my living room with beads and tools all over the table. Every spare moment I had I was busy with beading and creating. I think I have an eye for color and design: people really liked my items. So I sold them to my sisters, friends, colleagues and even jewellers.

Then I became pregnant with my first son. I adored him and soon my hobby was driven to the background. I was a mother now and with my job as journalist I had no time for other things. Son number two followed quit quickly and in June 2009 I welcomed my third son to the world. In my first years as a mother things had changed in my life. I noticed that I needed a tidy house to keep overview. So all the stuff I collected in my life little by little made room for baby stuff. I didn’t mind. I only kept what was really important to me: photos, diaries, jewellery.  And the box with beads and tools was moved to the attic.

On a Saturday in july 2009 my mother took me to the jeweller to buy me a gift for becoming a mother again. We bought earrings with pearls. The salesgirl wrapped the gift and gave me a little brochure from another brand. At home I took the brochure and I turned over the leaves over and over again. What I saw where beads in sparkling colors and great designs. I was attracted to them, could not believe I did not know about this brand that was called Trollbeads. I did some research on the internet, called for my husband and said: what if I would buy one of these. And I did. One week later I was the proud owner of a silver necklace with an antique flower, dolly (retired), drop black (retired) and a flower lock.

Since that purchase I discovered more and more about Trollbeads. I read on sites and forums about the Aagaard family, retireds, unique, designers and the story behind the beads. I started visiting dealers and soon knew everything about the brand. I don’t need to say that all that research  involved buying more beads. But that was all for a good cause. After years of being a mother, a wife and a journalist I had found a new hobby that I could easy combine in my busy life. It gives me a great new way to express myself. Playing with the beads is relaxing after a long day of work and best of all: my new love doesn’t cry, doesn’t wear diapers and fits in a small box!

Trollbeads Gallery Unique Picasso JasperGreetings to all of you, our Trollbeads Gallery Forum friends. I have been going through the forum's most recently uploaded photographs and I have to say the collectors here on our forum have some of the most incredible Trollbeads. Some of the photos and beads are literally breathtaking.  Speaking of breathtaking for those of you who wish to improve your photo taking ability there is a group hosted by Ginger, our TBGF Photographer extraordinare!  Please follow the link to our most recent Blog article where I write about our Forum hitting one more benchmark, 12,000 photographs.  Please leave comments for Ginger or leave them just in general!

With all the changes and upheaval with Trollbeads at the beginning of February the scheduled price increase of 2-1-11 was pushed to the middle of the month and we kept on getting updates and mixed messages so now as of Monday 3-1st our Trollbeads Gallery will have the new prices. The changes aren't enormous but just the same it was considerate for Trollbeads to extend the date to the U.S. market.

Speaking of Trollbeads the changes have been smooth and we are very excited about upcoming changes and benefits the new distributor will offering the U.S. market.  The Unique beads are coming in beautiful and wonderfully varied. For those of you who are new to Trollbeads Gallery Forum or new to Trollbeads one very big benefit of the new distributorship is our ability to now offer the 6 bead kits for the price of 5 beads. To see what kits are available visit our What's New Page. The new Spring 2011 Trollbeads are proving to be a very popular release but I'm sure none of us are surprised at this!

"Trollbeads Fest! 2011" is coming along and is all set for September 23th and 24th.  We are reworking our Trollbeads Fest website and will have fresh information soon. We have been working on some great plans so clear your calendar and make your travel plans!  We have it listed under "Events" on our Forum.

If you are looking for individual Pink and Turquoise Agates and can't hand select at a local dealer we will be listing them on Trollbeads Gallery shortly. We will also be listing many more Picasso Jaspers in the coming week so keep your eyes on the What's New Page!!   Our Retired Trollbeads Gallery website will be offering many new "old" Trollbeads once I get them listed in the next few days. From Big Fruit, Crane, Large BOF, 3 Red Armadillos, many retired Pink Ambers to the Tulip Lock...we have a lot to share! From changing the prices and adding all of the beads I've mentioned I think I'll be very busy!

We are about to announce a photography contest (I have mentioned it) and we are just nailing down the logistics and prizes. My idea is to lighten up the end of winter by adding some comedy so start thinking up funny Trollbeads photos. If you follow the link to Facebook you can see the photo of the Baby Trolls Beach PartyI took last summer. We are thrilled to announce Isabel and Nicholas Aagaard will be judging the contest! It was originally planned for the Trollbeads Gallery Facebook page and may still be there but for those of you who aren't on Facebook I don't want to exclude you. If you are on Facebook and not yet on our page please join our by clicking "Like Us". Trollbeads Gallery Facebook!   You'll see Trollbeads here that I don't show on the forum... just for variety!

One more thing!  I want to remind you to go to "Groups" and check them out and please join your local group or create one if you don't have one for your state or your country. This is a great place to learn about your local Trollbeads events so it is very worthwhile joining!!  New members are joining everyday and our international members are joining in great numbers and our groups will be getting busier!  Welcome to all of you.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at:

Trollbeads Year in Review, 2010 Part 2

Trollbeads Gallery Spring bracelet

Continuing the discussion on Trollbeads 2010 we move on to the Spring Collection.  In February 2010 Trollbeads released a beautiful collection of new bead designs.  For collectors it was a very welcomed release because it offered a series of black beads and we know how black can be both stylishly modern and pin-stripe suit conservative. Black Armadillo, Black Bubbles, Fashion Flower, Chess, and the new Zebra (not to be confused with the old retired Zebra) are staples in every collection. You can take a bracelet of black and white Trollbeads and add only one other color and it changes the look entirely. The colors that look the best with the black and white beads are red, hot pink and lime green.

Trollbeads Gallery Blaack and white troll beads

The “Aventurine” bead was introduced and like many of the natural “Precious Stone” beads it comes in a variety of tones and lends itself to many applications.  See accompanying photo below.

Trollbeads Gallery Aventurine

Don’t be afraid to use green in any design as it is in the middle of the color wheel and looks good with many complimentary and contrasting colors.  This release saw the two new tassel beads (shown in photo above) in white pearl and black spinel.  The earlier drop pearls had just been discontinued and the tassel beads have a more up to date, cleaner look.  Filling the gap for” baby” beads, the” Little Boy” and the” Little Girl” beads were introduced alongside the “Hope” bead.  Soft blue, soft pink and soft mint green pearlescent/opaque glass with one cz in each bead.  The silver “Zucchini Flower” bead is big and can be used on standard necklaces, Fantasy Necklaces and on bracelets.  I use mine on a bracelet.  The “Soccer Ball” was happily welcomed by all the soccer moms we sell to and this is one of only 3 beads with any hint toward sports so it fills void. There are other beads that deserve mention but will only name two more I use a lot.  The “Paradise Birds” and the “Carved Flowers” both have the heavier feel and width of the “Limited Edition China” (from 2009) and the “Jugend” bead.  The height and width of these beads allows them to be positioned next to glass beads and they are level with the glass so they don’t get lost.  Finishing up the release was the addition of the “Swan Lock”.  I don’t know any Trollbeads Collector who isn’t always wishing for a new lock and The “Swan Lock”  is regal and  beautiful  and has been very popular.

As far as the versitality of your use of Trollbeads goes the Spring Collection also introduced the double stand leather bracelets.  These are youthful but can also be sophisticated depending on how you dress them up or down. The leather cord is square and just large enough to effectively hold each bead in place so there is no need to fill the bracelet. Trollbeads Gallery leather

Offered in red, beige, brown and black leather there is such variety it ends up a challenge to come up with the best look.  A nice surprice for me was these bracelets when purchased in the larger size makes a dynamite necklace!

Ok Trollbeads we are all ready for the 2011 Spring release so bring it on!

Trollbeads Precious Stone Bead: Smoky Quartz

Posted by Louise Rogers on Sun, Sep 26, 2010 @ 08:09 AM

Trollbeads Gallery Smoky Quartz Troll bead.

The Smoky Quartz Trollbead was one of the original precious stone beads released by Trollbeads in 2009.  Like the other natural stone Trollbeads, Smoky quartz beads can be found in a variety of shades from a light translucent smoky brown to a deep dark brown.  The scientific reason for the variety of tones in Smoky Quartz is not known but it is thought to have something to do with the amount of natural radiation the stone has been exposed to while it was in its’ original state.  It is a common practice for stone finishers to alter their precious stones and semi -precious stones by either a heat process or a radiation process to produce the most desirable colors. Most smoky quartz that is sold to rock shops and to some gem cutters has been artificially irradiated to produce a dark black color.  I have found that the tone remains constant with the Trollbeads Smoky Quartz, it’s the shade that varies.  Trollbeads collectors enjoy the hunt for a variety of shades and often want it in the whole range and will find different uses for each bead.

Smoky Quartz is a popular stone in general and therefore can be seen used in many decorative uses besides jewelry. It has been found in Colorado, in the Swiss Alps, Brazil and Africa.  Like all other quartz stones, Smoky Quartz has a hardness of 7 on the geologists Mohs scale where 10 is the hardest.

Smoky Quartz is only one of several quartz varieties. Other varieties that form macroscopic (large enough to see without magnification) crystals are as follows:

  • Amethyst, in shades of purple. (Available in a  Trollbeads Precious Stone Bead)
  • Citrine, is yellow to orange is rarely found naturally but can occur by heating Amethyst.
  • Milky Quartz, found in the cloudy white variety.
  • Prasiolite, is the soft green variety
  • Rock crystal, is the clear variety (no color)
  • Rose Quartz, is a pink variety (Available in a  Trollbeads Precious Stone Bead)

Healing Properties of Smoky Quartz:

As with most all gem stones there are healing properties associated with Smoky Quartz.  It is said that it is a good stone to share between people that either work together or have a relationship of some sort.  If you have a common goal with anyone, be it work related or a personal goal, it is a good stone to have.  It is said to also absorb negative thought patterns and it can bring us back to reality by cleansing and strengthening our grounding.

While many gem stones are known to attract money, it’s the Smoky Quartz that helps you keep it.  It guides you to see more clearly a better way to handle your money.

Some stone specialists believe that keeping several smoky quartz crystals in the bedroom can help couples to overcome communication problems. With couples who have been together a long time, it helps to dissolve mental and emotional blockages that can get in the way of the two of them learning who the other person has grown to become. This is especially important because people change and relationships can sour if the relationship itself stays stagnant and doesn’t keep up with the new needs of the people involved.

Other points of interest:

  • If you work at a computer and your hands or wrists hurt from carpal tunnel syndrome, wear smoky quartz crystals as jewelry to help ease the pain. They say if you can wear a bracelet made of smoky quartz around your wrist it is particularly helpful to those with carpal tunnel. In our case I would suggest creating a Trollbeads bracelet using 5 Smoky Quartz Trollbeads, alternating with smaller silver Trollbeads so it is the Smoky Quartz that rests directly upon your wrist.
  • Smoky Quartz can be used as a protective shield to block and absorb and negative energies sent your way. You yourself may be very positive but you have no control over the bad energies thought or sent your way.  From someone who has to wait behind you in line to someone who is jealous of you for your good energy! Always wear a Trollbeads Smoky Quartz to protect yourself.
  • Are you always looking for lost items?  Are you basically unorganized so things don’t have a proper place?   They say it helps if you can put a few smoky quartz crystals around so they can help you improve your organizational skills.  So wear your Trollbeads Smoky Quartz and you will become very organized.

What are you waiting for?  If you already own a Trollbeads Smoky Quartz bead, that is great but you probably need another one!

Trollbeads Gallery and Rogers Gallery on the SouthCoast of Massachusetts is hosting the first of it's kind in the U.S. Festival, Trollbeads Fest! 2010.  October 15th & 16th!

When each new person signs up for the TrollbeadsFest! 2010 I get that much more excited and then I start adding more things to make everyone's experience that much more special. Check out the Fest's exciting schedule of events.

As many of you know we have a special website just for Trollbeads Fest! 2010 and there you can discover all the great events we have planned along with offering super Unique Trollbeads and T.E.L.S.!   T.E.L.S. is a new acronym for Trollbeads Experiential Learning Stations! Yes, it's obvious I just made it up, but it works. These stations will be hosted by the New England Rep Group of Kim Wahlberg. Some of you have met Kim and her group at a variety of Trollbeads functions from New Jersey to Maine. Kim and her team are very adept at showing how to use the Fantasy Necklace in more ways that you can imagine, how to use the leather bracelets and how to use the new Trollbeads Earrings in all 83 different combinations. I think Greg, the Trollbead rep for Maine, would be a good one to work this station! We have just added one more group to the TrollbeadsFest! 2010 and that will be a table for retired Trollbeads. Our Retired Trollbeads Gallery website has a great collection of retired Trollbeads and these will be interesting and educational for so many of you new collectors to see.We will have quick and easy directions to and from each destination.

While this event is going on in New Bedford at the brand new Fairmont Inn and Convention Center, our store, Rogers Gallery, in nearby Mattapoisett will be showing our Trollbeads Museum. The museum is a collection of retired Trollbeads from 30 years ago to the recently retired. Please feel free to visit and enjoy seeing the evolution of Trollbeads designs.

The first Harbor Cruise has SOLD OUT but I have just learned that we can schedule another one so PLEASE let us know if you are interested and we can set it up. Also, if there is something I haven't covered that you would like to see us offer or do, let us know. We are always open to new ideas!

As you know we are thrilled to have Suzanne Hopping come all the way from Australia to sign the Trollbeads coffee table book for us."An Icon in Jewelry Design, Trollbeads". If you have already purchased one you can bring it (if you are strong enough!) she can sign the copy you own. We will also be offering the book for sale at the event. If you will want to purchase one please let us know so we can be sure to have enough copies in stock. Suzanne was the winner of the 2009 People’s Bead Award for her “Pax” bead. Suzanne and her husband just made it on the first Harbor Cruise before it sold out!

It has just been confirmed that Kristi Denning from Maryland, the 2010 People's Bead Award winner, will be coming to the Trollbeads Fest also.  The only two winners of the People's Bead award will be together at our Trollbeads Fest!

If you haven't purchased your tickets you may want to do so now as they are limited. Trollbeads Fest! 2010

Folklore and Benefits of Tiger's Eye: A new Trollbead!

Posted by Louise Rogers on Sun, Sep 05, 2010 @ 10:09 AM
Trollbeads Gallery Tiger's EyeTroll bead

With the new Trollbeads release of the Autumn, 2010 beads there were 3 new stone Trollbeads added to the “Precious Stone” category. One of the new stone beads is the Tiger’s Eye.

Tiger’s Eye is a member of the quartz group of chalcedonies.  In using the term “Chalcedony” in stones used jewelry you think of the light blue variation with translucency (another new Trollbeads "Precious Stone" bead) but there are actually a few other stones in this group , a few being agates, onyx, jaspers and tiger’s eye. It is one of the chatoyant gemstones. Chatoyancy exhibits a changeable silky luster as light is reflected within the thin parallel fibrous bands. This effect is due to the fibrous structure of the stone’s material.

The Tiger’s Eye stone is mined in Western Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, India, Namibia, and Burma and it was all originally metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rock is the result of the geological transformation of an existing rock type. “Metamorphic” means a changing in form. While deep in the earth’s crust the existing heat, pressure and chemical changes all contributed to the metamorphism.  Through millions of years of erosion and layers of uplifts the rocks are eventually.  Tiger’s Eye has beautiful lateral striations and depending on how the stone is finished, it can look like miniature landscapes.

As with the other stones that Trollbeads has chosen for its “Precious Beads” group, Tiger’s Eye has folklore and legends associated with its history.  Trollbeads has a strong affiliation with folklore in their beads and the Tiger’s Eye fits well with Trollbeads philosophy for chosingTrollbeads designs and Trollbead materials. Many legends about quartz say that wearing tiger's eye (which is a form of quartz) is beneficial for health and spiritual well being. Legend also says it is a psychic protector.  Tigers Eye is also believed to be great for business and that it helps achieve clarity of thought. One Tiger Eye meaning assures the correct use of power, courage, grace and the ability to see clearly and without illusion. All of which clears the way before you to allow your success to enter your life.  Too often, those that come into money after a long lack of money in their life, tend to be abusive with the power that the new found money brings. These newly rich tend to shun those they knew most of their life and tend to be unkind to those with less money. Tigers Eye healing properties prevents the abuse of power, leaving you better able to get along with everyone involved, which makes relationships with those that work for us much smoother.  Another Tiger Eye meaning creates harmony in your life and is especially suited for anyone seeking peace and calm in their life. Does your mind flit from one thought to another, making it hard to concentrate, impossible to meditate? You should use Tiger Eye to ground yourself because Its presence stills the mind and helps you move deeper into meditation and into being a more calm person.

Tigers Eye Meaning: the best abilities of a tiger

Tiger's Eye (also known as Tiger Eye) draws upon the best qualities of a Tiger allowing you to absorb them into your being to get the most benefit from them.

1) Patience: A tiger can wait patiently for hours or even days until the right opportunity presents itself. In business and in life, patience is a virtue. Often we run head long into a project without doing the proper research or learning and we find ourselves having to backtrack. Allow the tiger eye to bring you clear thinking and insight in to the situation.
2) Focused: A tiger will stay focused on the object he desires for as long as it takes. In business, if we allow ourselves to lose focus, we allow our competition to gain a foothold and we miss opportunities to grow and increase our businesses. A tigers eye Trollbead will keep you focused if you allow it to.

3) Determination: A tiger is totally determined to get what he wants and needs. To be successful in your endeavors you need to be determined and wearing the Tiger’s Eye Trollbead will give you the calmness of mind to be determined.  Learn from the tiger and allow the tigers eye gemstone to help maintain and increase your determination is all aspect of life and business.

After writing this I am going to go put some Tiger's Eye Trollbeads onto my Trollbeads necklace! I could definately use some calmness and order in my mind!

New Trollbeads Include "Golden Quartz" A Precious Stone Bead.

Posted by Louise Rogers on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 @ 14:08 PM

Trollbeads Golden Quartz bead.Trollbeads has recently introduced a new group of Glass, Silver and natural Stone Trollbeads.  This new introduction, is referred to as the new “Autumn 2010 Release Trollbeads”. The new beads were  delivered to its top tier retailers, consisting of Platinum, Gold Plus and Gold Premier dealers across the United States.  The Troll collectors responses have been overwhelming and these dealers are already running low.  Each of the top tiered dealers are allowed 25 of each new design to start with and through a few discussions with other Troll retailers I have found the "Golden Quartz" Precious Stone bead and the "Blue Azure" Glass Trollbead are the hottest new beads of the bunch.

From my standpoint I favor the Golden Quartz.  It is a new addition to the Trollbeads Precious Stone collection and like the other stones in this category it has qualities and features only a natural stone can have.  From a design perspective it is valuable addition because there are multiple tones of gold with this single bead and this makes is so usable.  In our first shipment of the Autumn Release 2010 Trollbeads we received  Golden Quartz in very light gold tines (imagine a light Corona beer) to a very dark gold (imagine a hearty dark ale) and all the tones in between.  Then imagine what you can do with these Trollbeads!  Trollbeads has only about one or two major new bead releases each year and with each new release that come in my first reaction is to see how the new beads can be used by a collector to utilize the older beads.  With each new release there are new and fascinating combinations to be made.  The new "Golden Quartz" will work very well with all of the Amber Trollbeads and especially well with the retired Trollbeads, the Tiger and Tortoiseshell Glass beads.  The Golden Quartz is so neutral yet so warm, I am sure it will be one of the great transitional Trollbeads.   It is also the first of the faceted Precious Stone Trollbeads to have its facets reflect and shimmer, like a bright yellow diamond.

The qualities of the Golden Quartz are as intriguing as any of the Troll natural precious stone beads.  The historical legends of all precious stones make them a perfect material to be used in Trollbeads and the Golden Quartz bead is no different. So much of Trollbeads is about myths and legends.  "Golden Quartz" is known primarily as a stone of success therefore if you are looking to create or grow a business if you wear this stone it will help increase your productivity and creativity. The "Golden Quartz" is a great stabilizer in stressful times and it helps ward off laziness and depression.

You can see in the photo below I have mixed new Trollbeads with old Trollbeads and what a great combination they have made.  Besides the new Trollbeads I have used the "Deep Bubbles" (make sure to find one with light blue bubbles) and "Khaki Stripe", (again make sure you find a "Khaki Sripe" with light blue instead in the stripe instead of Khaki. The blues I have found look great with the new "Light Blue Shadows.  There is always a variety of tones in with each Trollbead so you can find the ones that look best. We can help you with that is you would like!

NEW RELEASE Trollbeads=A Very Busy Week in Review

Posted by Louise Rogers on Sun, Aug 22, 2010 @ 09:08 AM

New Trollbeads Bracelet from Trollbeads gallery

It has been a hectic week for all Trollbeads collectors and dealers alike! The price increase and the new Trollbeads has been full of highs and lows.  We can all agree this is an amazing release of new beads.  I can't wait to work with the beads and create bracelets using old beads along with the new.

On Trollbeads Gallery Forum our members are sharing their new beads and bracelet designs.  There is one image with warm tones using the new Red Symmetry bead and the retired Tiger bead.New Beads!

The price increase has been a confusing issue for stores and websites and I have discovered that although the price change does not have to be completed until the 30th, we were asked by TrollbeadsUS to make the changes immediately. It was confusing to me as they mentioned the cahnges would go into effect on the 16th  and should be completed by the 30th.  I just read the 30th. In the past I believe we were given one date so there wasn't any confusion before.  My apologies goes out to any Trollbeads website or Trollbeads dealers for not understanding the pricing
schedule (I still don't) but I will be attempting to get the prices changed this week.TrollbeadsGallery.com 's prices will be changing as soon as my webmaster reports in!

As some of you know I was in New York last week on business while all of this was taking place with no internet connection!! Knowing I was not in town, my web assistant loaded the new beads on the site but unfortunately downloaded them all from the Denmark site. This created confusion because the pricing is different and I want to apologize to anyone that was effected by this.

Regarding Unique Beads:  As you know, when we have released new Unique beads at an assigned time there is a horde of people all trying to buy the same beads and because of the way the site works, it doesn't show as sold until the bead is paid for.  This means one bead can sell at the same time to many people.  To prevent this from happening we will be adding smaller groups of beads and not announcing it as a large release. I will also be adding by ones and twos so keep your eyes on the site!  For my Forum members I will announce new beads "groups" by posting an image of a single unique bead as I did this week. New Unique beads.

Trollbeads Fest is gearing up and more and more plans are coming together. Please remember the event is limited to first come - first serve.  I would hate any of my Forum friends to miss out. We will have many, many unique beads and I'm sure we'll have a few drag down fights over them so that will be fun to watch!
