I don't usually tell everyone I am a Trollbeads specialist but in this case and as the author of this blog I can tell you all, that I am a unique bead specialist. From the early beads that were distributed by Lund, up to the current beads I have photographed, verbally described and sold upwards of 10,000 unique beads.  So yes, I proudly admit to being a Trollbeads Unique specialist.  That may not seem like a big deal to most but when you have to look, photo, process, hold and verbally describe 10,000 beads you get to know them very well.  Just look at the 3 unique beads from 5 years ago in the first photo! I can remember people being bored with these old beads!!  I think we just don't realize how special most of the uniques are now because too many are focused on the beads they can't find such as the Footprints bead and the Running Man bead.  I must comment here, be very careful if you find yourself on Ebay looking for either of those beads.  When Scott Bouwens was with us with his bead making demonstration at Trollbeads Fest he commented on how easy it would be to create the Footprints bead so you can bet there are fakes already on Ebay. Don't devalue your collection to get a bead that could be a fake. So look at the current designs on sites and find the beauty in the beads, even if there is no "Running Man"!  So you can look forward as each year brings new style uniques and it's fun to see the older ones.  Look at the bracelet at the end of this blog and you'll see some other old ones! Aren't they great?

Recently it has been brought to my attention by collectors and people within the company that there is a lot of misinformation out in the internet about Unique beads. A dealer in Europe has been reporting that Trollbeads is stopping the production of unique beads. I can tell you that is absolutely not true.  What has been happening is that unique beads have become so collectable that they are a bit scarce right now.  As Trollbeads has opened up greater distribution throughout the world all of the Trollbeads production centers have been pushed to their maximum output. According to Peter Aagaard, the Trollbeads workshops around the world who create our beloved unique beads have been very busy creating the new beads for 2014 which I hear will be beyond anything you can dream about.  So yes there is a shortage of unique beads but for a good reason. I can't wait to see 2014 releases for both production and brand new ideas in Unique designs.

How am I sure this shortage will be resolved?  A couple of weeks ago when a change in leadership occurred at TrollbeadsUS I received a call from Peter Aagaard who was in the country and we did touch upon the current need for new unique beads. He mentioned that he and Lise were traveling to India to work on the problem.  India is the factory they have with displaced Tibetans who years ago gave us the Tibetan "kit".  Since that kit it is my understanding they have continued to produce beads for Trollbeads and with the visit the Aagaards are planning to ramp up the unique beads for 2014.  What does this mean to us?

Well it means that we not only have a very exciting year ahead for standard Trollbeads releases but we have to look forward to a whole new collection of Unique beads!  I for one am very excited to see the next highly sought after bead.  The progression of talent within these Trollbeads factories in Malawi and in India has been exciting to see and it's clear we have a lot to look forward to. In the meantime just know that there are still many, many unique beads in the U.S. As many of you know I am a unique bead hoarder and I have many, many great beads in stock that I will continue to list so all is not lost until 2014.  At the moment I am preparing our traditional Christmas Unique release that so many look forward to!  I hoard all green and red beads through out the year and release them in late November so stay tuned!

One rumor that appears to be true is there will be a stop in Critter beads.  Now while we are very sad about losing Butterflies, Turtles, Ladybugs and Fish doesn't it just make you wonder what else will be coming?  To help you through the next few months just know that I will continue to be listing the Critters I have and I will be listing and yes sharing the unique beads I have saved up in my arsenal of goodies. Trollbeads Gallery Mini-Beads

It's been more than 5 years since Trollbeads Gallery has had a mini-bead release and it's taken that long for us to save and hoard the small scale unique beads for this release.  Our mini-beads was a very popular category years ago when unique beads and standard glass beads were made on a smaller scale but now it takes longer to find them.  I can remember when I released the first group every other dealer was calling Trollbeads asking why they didn't get the mini-bead release as I had.  It was quite funny at the time because not many people saw the beauty in the smaller beads as I had and the distributor at the time, not known for his compliments, was quoted to have said "Leave it to Louise to take something no one wanted and make it something everyone wants."  I don't know why I am so attracted to the smaller beads but they definitely have a place in the Trollbeads market.

What makes a mini-bead?  At Trollbeads Gallery a mini bead is any unique glass bead that measures 12 mm or less.  Years ago when we featured mini-beads we were gaging them at 10 mm or smaller but that small is a hard bead to find.  We've been collecting them primarily by sight as you can see the difference immediately.  The bracelet below is my own mini-bead bracelet and you can see that the smaller silver beads look best with this scale glass bead.  Besides the unique beads you can see other standard glass beads that I have that are tiny.

Another great source for mini-beads is the unique Trollbeads amber beads.  You can see an amber bead at the end of the bracelet above. We have a lot of those we will be offering also and they too have perfect places to be so to you big bead buyers don't snub your nose at them!

Below is my other mini-bead bracelet and you can see the beads are close to the size of the compact Prism Trollbeads.  I have more amber on this bracelet and it all works! 

Besides building a whole bracelet with mini-beads you can also use small scale beads as a nice ender bead for Trollbeads bracelets.  If you use a smaller bead at the end of a bracelet it lets you hold on to the lock easier to put your bracelet on or take it off.

They won't last long as the collection isn't unlimited.  I will be adding some new ones after the initial release so check back!

As an Authorized Trollbeads dealer for many years now I take great pride in trying to offer my customers Trollbeads in a pleasing and stimulating way.   As dealers we all try to offer you the best we can but for Trollbeads Gallery I have always tried to offer Trollbeads in a unique platform so the customer’s experience is a pleasurable one.  I’ve always offered Trollbeads in categories I feel are helpful to the buyer whether it is showing regular glass beads as in “Standard Trollbeads But with a twist” or by saving unique beads all year long to present at either Halloween, Valentine’s Day, July 4^th or of course our biggest offering, the Christmas uniques.  Years ago we even had the “Mini-Beads” category which we plan on resurrecting soon when I get my small unique beads photographed.  But in any case when I work to present our Trollbeads so they are easier to see, easier to compare and easier to collect I feel I am doing my job well and I enjoy what I do.  I’ve spent years building trust with my customers and even if they don’t see what they want they feel free to email me knowing besides what I have on the site I have hundreds more  in the gallery or in my stash.   Besides our inventory we strive to offer you the best possible customer service we can. With just myself listing beads and working the website and Penni processing and shipping the orders we will do what we can to make collecting Trollbeads a joy as it should be.

Trollbeads Uniques: Unlike many sites that sell on Facebook and have Facebook parties this is something I just can't manage.  It's only me and Penni in the office and I am short the man-power to do this.  What I do do is list new unique beads pretty much everyday of the week.  This is to offer my collectors a fresh and ever changing assortment of unique Trollbeads to hunt through when they can look and not make them feel like they are in a lottery. Call me old fashioned, that's fine.  The unique below is a beautiful Pinwheel I just listed today!

Holiday Uniques: For 8 years I have always offered a special holiday section of unique beads and at this time I have Halloween Unique's listed and even as get closer to the holiday I still add new beads because so many collectors love Autumn and orange is a great color for Autumn themed bracelets and not just Halloween. Check back though out the year as I also offer Holiday Unique releases for Valentines Day, July 4th and Christmas too! Below is a sample of Halloween.  It won't be long before I start photographing my red and green collection for Christmas.

Trollbeads Unique Trios: We have been offering these for almost a year and they are always popular depending of course on the unique beads I get in.  I have always tried to find 3 beads that work well together so it can either be a perfect Trollbeads Bangle design as is or the starting point for a new bracelet design.  It takes me awhile to put beads together so the time I take in matching sizes and colors saves you time.  Just recently I have started adding Trios that are actually the same design but in 3 different colors, as shown below.  Creating bracelets from like design beads but in many different colors has been getting more and more popular so these kits will help those that have those projects in mind.

 Critters Unique Beads: We have a category just for the "critter" unique beads now coming in from Trollbeads.  It's a fun category to look at because all the critters have just great colors and viewing them all together makes it easy to compare the variety of Ladybugs, Turtles, Butterflies and Fish being offered. 

Standard Trollbeads But With A Twist: This is definitely a Trollbeads Gallery original! These are standard glass and stone Trollbeads that are different in some way. These differences are not defects but just differences found in beads because they are all hand made and differences happen and it is these differences that makes Trollbeads so special.  I started this category because it is something collectors love to do when they go to Trollbeads stores-to hunt for beads that are just a little different and I wanted collectors who can't get to a store to enjoy the same hunt.  We've been doing it for quite a while now and it's a very popular category.  To photograph beads daily is a labor of love but I do try to restock inventory as often as I can so check back if you don't find what you are looking for.  You'll notice some beads are just perfect for this category like the Azure Bubbles as every bead is unique.  I also include beads that are not that different because it's fun to offer a bead as it is supposed to be!  I also include any limited edition releases and retired Trollbeads in this listing as we all know it's nice to see the actual bead you are buying. Look at the Blue Desert bead and the Kahaki Stripe below and you'll see how different some beads can come in!  The stone beads are always unique, especially the Tourmalinated Quartz,so it's helpful to see those photos too. The fun part is to see what number each bead is. The Tourmalinated Quartz I just listed is #30 so that is the 30th of that bead I have listed.

X At Trollbeads Gallery

X is a new jewelry concept created by Lise Aagaard and designed by Lise and other leading existing Trollbeads designers such as Soren Nielsen, Mette Saabye, Nicolas Aagaard plus other Trollbeads designers.  "X by Trollbeads" is a jewelry line that clearly displays the forward thinking and the forward moving direction of Trollbeads and I for one am very excited by it.  When placed in the hands of everyone that is drawn to it ... something great happens! The links turn into a personal creation reflecting a part of you in a whole new palette of sophisticated patterns and textures.  When you think about each link it is similar to the classic Trollbeads line in that it tells a story but in it's early days X  has less vocabulary than the Trollbeads bead line! It's minimalist and sophisticated but don't let that scare you!  You will love working with it. How can you not love that the rubber links are only $2.00.  With this in mind it is easy to come up with a design early on with mostly rubber links and then add the silver and bronze links slowly making your "X" purchases more easily afforded. 

During Trollbeads Fest last weekend I enjoyed watching everyone discover the possibilities as they had a chance to play with it creating different pieces.  I thought we had created a lot of things but when you add more people to the mix you end up with even more ideas and more creations.  Our Trollbeads rep Kim was here and she was the "X-Lady" in charge of the X jewelry.  Kim wore a great asymmetrical necklace she created and an image of Kim wearing it is shown here - doesn't that make you want to start creating?

The possibilities go on and on but for a couple of examples Liz, who spends a lot of time sailing with her family made a bracelet of "Lover's Bond" Links and it had such a nautical feel to it.  Then Mary Anna our Trollbeads Fest song writer and musician created a bracelet with the guitar link which is called "Rock and Roll".

How does it work?  It's designed so each link features an x shaped beveled edge which created a slight separation so with a simple twist two links are joined together.  So the lengths are defined by you and the design is too. The links are made from high quality silver, bronze, gold and black rubber links designed so you can create the unexpected! 2013 People's Bead Release is now on-line to view and on October 4th to purchase!

I am hoping the title of this blog drew your attention.  In the many years I have been a Trollbeads dealer I have never been able to time my Trunk Shows to align with a Trollbeads bead release so I am very excited about this coincidental occurrence!  Trollbeads Trunk Shows are the best way possible to buy beads as you get the best and only deals now available. Our Trunk Show was only scheduled when I decided to hold a mini Trollbeads Fest 2013! and the weekend most people could attend was October 4 & 5.  So although I wish I could say it was my fine business acumen that planned it this way, it was not. Just good timing for collectors.   While the Fest is only on Friday October 4th and Saturday October 5th the Trunk Show continues on-line through Sunday and all day Monday.  Trunk Shows last four days while I personally can only last two days at Trollbeads Fest!

During this time I hope to be listing many, many Unique Trollbeads as I just received an order of 300 unique bead kits...with an invoice that totaled exactly what my first house cost! So while I am dividing the goods between my loyal website customers who can't travel to the Fest and for those who are attending...trust me there is more than enough to go around.  If I have whetted your appetite to attend...check out last minute air fares as they can be affordable and there are plenty reasonable places to stay! We are within an hour of Boston and Providence so we are easy to get to! For more information on the Fest read the blog prior to this one!

The 2013 People's Bead Winners are a great group of designs chosen from a field of thousands of entries.  When the People's Bead contest started there was only one bead chosen but in the last two contests there have been multiple winners with designs created with a theme defined by Trollbeads.  This year it was based on Traditional Sayings.  There were so many great entries as you can imagine with all the colorful traditional sayings around the world. 

I have to say they are all worthy additions to the Trollbeads line. I am particularly fond of the Books because I collect books, I love the Acorn bead because I love acorns and have them as a logo for my other store Surroundings and I could go on and on about every new People's Bead but you can go see for yourself right now.  What I think I am saying here is they are beads that will strike a universal cord with many and I am very excited about this release! So look on Trollbeads Gallery next week at this time and you will see all eleven 2013 People's Beads and when you purchase them in the note section indicate the beads you have earned free!  Most of you know this but when you buy three beads the fourth bead has to be equal to or less than the lowest of the three you are buying.  So group them to give yourself the most value.  For example if you buy 3 beads at $43.00 chose a free bead at $43.00 even though you can chose a free $31.00 bead.  It's common sense but it is still confusing! If you want to place your order earlier than the weekend you can but just write in the notes "Trunk Show" or email us your order (especially is you want the People's beads as these are not available for sale yet, although on line) and we'll have the beads all set aside for you.

     Trollbeads Fest 2013!  Is on and we are very excited about the 4th Annual Fest! For anyone who has attended in past years you know how special and how unique this event is.

     As some know I had originally planned not to have one this year due to my illness in January.  January is the month I have to reserve the hotel and conference center and when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I didn't know what the outcome would be so I was unable to make the commitment I usually do.  I have been very fortunate and have come through the treatments with flying colors (yeah!) and at the last moment have decided to have    Trollbeads Fest in a much more intimate setting, in our gallery.  The collectors love this event so much and it was weighing on me heavily that I couldn't host the event and bring everyone together again so I started thinking why not just hold a smaller event?  After touching base with some past attendees and after listing the event on Trollbeads Gallery Forum I discovered that it was a great idea! So although last minute the party is on!

On October 4th and 5th we will be hosting Trollbeads Fest 2013! At Rogers Gallery in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.  The hours will be our usual "open hours" 9:30-5:00 with the exception of our Wine Event, Friday Night 5:00-7:00. At our Wine Event we will have drawings for charity including great unique beads as we have always done and we will be offering heavy hors d'oerves and wine. This is a wonderful event to get to know your fellow collectors, show off your collection and of course also buy beads and take advantage of the Trunk Show special of receiving a gift of a free bead when you purchase 3.  There are no limits to this special!!

All 3 previous Trollbeads Fest's were very exciting and very memorable for so many reasons.

Kristi's design won first out of thousands of entrees!

This photo was taken during Trollbeads Fest 2012!  We had Soren Neilsen visiting from Denmark. As the design leader of silver Trollbeads and the first designer for Trollbeads we were very honored to have him with us.  Here is at Rogers Gallery showing us how to create molds for the silver beads.  Sitting with Soren is Alicia Sopola, Ginger Hatten and Alex Rogers. These three traveled from Michigan, Wyoming and Colorado for the event but of course Alex had to...he's my son but he also sells Trollbeads in his Boulder Jewelry Gallery, Starfish!

This photo was taken at the opening night of the first Trollbeads Fest 2010!  The photo is of Suzanne Hopping and myself on the right.  Suzanne and her husband Robert traveled from Australia for the event.  Suzanne won the first annual "People's Bead Award" for her "Pax" bead.

Unlike years past we will not be charging an entrance fee but there will be no "over the top" gift bag this year but the event will be worth attending if you can manage it with short notice!  We will be serving a complimentary lunch on both Friday and Saturday but we also have many great local eating establishments in the area. Remember this area is world famous for seafood as New Bedford is a huge fishing port. 

Glass Bead Demonstration: Scott Bouwens a professional glass artist will be creating glass beads at Trollbeads Fest 2013!  Scott is from the United States and from what we hear he gives a GREAT show! He is fascinating to watch and once you see a glass bead being made you will cherish your collection that much more!  Please note that Scott will be at the Fest for Saturday only.

The Trollbeads 2013 Autumn Collection

If you have the Aurora Bangle you probably have come to understand why Trollbeads released it alone on the Bangle.  It has an inner glow no other beads, until this release has ever had.  It outshines all others...well at least until now that is. We still have some Aurora Bangles available!

Native Elements Kit

This kit offers us so many brand new "elements".  We have 2 groups of beads with similar looks that are all ground breaking and exciting.  The Pod beads are a incredible addition to the line and they are designed by a new glass bead artist, Gail Crossman Moore from the U.S.  Like the "Rocky Beach Kit" designed by Scott Bouwens from the U.S. they offer us a very artistic look.  The really cool "Aqua Edge" beads are a tryptic of colors that challenge my descriptive ability. If you follow my listings on Trollbeads Gallery you know that I have listed over 10,000+ unique beads ALL with individual descriptions so that is saying something.Beyond the Group 1 glass bead we have 2 new styles of beads in the Group 2 beads.  The Group 2 beads are $43.00 versus the $31.00 of Group 1 but they are worth it.  Both new design introductions are outrageously cool.  Let me mention here if you think I am being overly effusive...this release deserves every calorie these sweet descriptions contain.  Have you ever heard me this overwhealmed?  Both the Faceted Beads and the Engraved Beads bread even further ground.  Take a look and I am sure you'll agree!

Now the new Silver Trollbeads would take another whole blog but let me just tell you that the Flowers of the Month will be making you wish you had a reason for buying every month.  The way I look at it I'm good with getting my 2 grandsons months but my sons are both January, oh but then there is the two daughter-in-laws, mine and my husbands so I guess I am half way there! Really, they are all glorious in their sculptural beauty.  Each flower holds a pearl.Two are shown below on a Fantasy Necklace design.  There are roughly two sizes as there are two prices depending on the size, $53 and $56.

     We are finally honored to accept a delightful Skeleton to the line and he is wonderful.  Thank you Soren! This is a work of art and for many of us a wait well worth it. Skeleton Spirit is shown below sitting next to Saffron Facet Bead and the new Prince and Princess bead.

 One more mention!  The I Luv You bead is subtle and sweet with a touch of a contemporary flair.  I have created a collage below so you can see all 3 sides of it! 

Nicolas Aagaard has delighted us with the many colors of leather bracelets and now he has offered us two more!  A sophisticated Black and Grey Leather Bracelet and a Light and Dark Brown Bracelet is now available. Thanks Nicolas!I know, I know...I have left the best for last.  A new faceted Precious Stone Bead...the Sapphire.  It comes in many tones so one will never be enough!  But then again I have always felt that way about sapphires.

The original and the most artistic bar none.  Thank you for exhibiting the phenomenal talent and professionalism with which you manage this business.  Having owned a gallery for as long as Trollbeads has been in business I am in awe on how you balance artistry and business because it's one of the most challenging combinations of two opposing worlds.

It's always interesting to check in on what the best selling Trollbeads are for any given time.  I just checked and found a list published by Trollbeads on their best selling beads for the first six months of 2013.  Now when you look at the Trollbeads here you need to keep in mind when each bead was released and if the release itself came within the time frame as that can be a reason why the sales are strong.  The list itself contains chains, locks and stoppers but for this list I am editing them out and only listing beads.  For your information the biggest selling lock was the Large Flower Lock and the second biggest selling lock was the Large Fish Lock...which brings me to mention when will Trollbeads be good enough to release another large lock like the other two large locks???  Everyone I know wants a new one and each time I met with Soren I begged him for one...so let's all just keep hoping! Please hear us Trollbeads!

2. Summer Stone Kits: Having just been released in May this is a surprise to me as this kit only has a month to make it to the second place spot.  US Trollies certainly love our natural stones!  Trollbeads Gallery now includes Summer Stones on our Trollbeads With a Twist category so you can choose your own stones and see what you are getting.  The Summer Stones comprise of 6 different stones (shown below) and each one is very unique.

3.Rocky Beach Kit  This style of glass Trollbeads heralds a huge change of glass beads for Trollbeads.  This kit was designed by an American glass artist Scott Bouwens from the state of Washington.  It's organic feel has such charm and such an artistic flair and each bead when used together gives honor to the bead next to it.  When you buy glass beads in a kit you get 6 beads but you pay for 5 which is a $31.00 savings.

4.Happy Summer Kit  This kit is all Trollbeads and has a great tone running through out. The soft peaches and blues are a great starting point for a whole new bracelet design.  I have seen many different styles designed with these beads from fun summer themes to more art inspired themes.  I'm happy to say we sold a lot of this kit as people enjoy the savings of a bead when they can get it!

5. Big Butterfly  One of my very favorites!  This huge bead is so much fun to wear on a necklace, on a chain or on a bangle!  If you use stoppers you can position it to stay where you want it to.  It's a lot of silver for the price and there are so many ways to use it so I am thrilled it is at the #5 position! 6. Ruby Rock I have to say that this is a surprise to me.  Every time I get Ruby Rocks in they looked very different and none of them look quite like the photo Trollbeads supplied to us to use on our websites.  We do best selling the Ruby Rock beads on out Trollbeads With A Twist category as our customers know we offer this so they can see what the bead looks like that they are getting.  It is a beautiful bead and the varieties are all lovely but can be huge!

7.Aurora Bangles I am thrilled to say that although TrollbeadsUS and Trollbeads Gallery were all but sold out of this incredible set, we know have just obtained an additional 18 so we are good until those are gone.  This bead is simple awe inspiring and while many of us were not thrilled to only offered it on a Bangle I can say that many bought it and reported back that they would not have tried the Bangle unless it had come with the Aurora Bead so in the end many are happy.  From our Trollbeads Gallery Forum I have seen so many collectors show off their Bangle and their Aurora designs and have enjoyed and been inspired by them.  To see some of them all in one place click on the link below!  Pinterest is a handy site to be able to sort your photos for a particular product. 8.Agate Dendritic Like the Ruby Rock this bead comes in many different looks.  If you can't get to a store check out our "Trollbeads With A Twist" category because we feature the Agate Dendritic Trollbeads there.  It's a good stone to have as it adds a lot to any black and white bracelets or necklace designs. 9. Starfish A delightful design just released this Spring designed by Soren Nielsen.  If you don't have one yet and if you love the ocean put this on your list!

10. Mom's Bouquet  Released for Mother's Day, 2013 this is a wonderfully sculptural bead with leaves and flowers.

I prefer to think of the various bracelets and necklaces as the "canvases" we are offered by Trollbeads to create each design, each one of our own designs.  No one else's, just our own. I find if I do this my mind starts wandering to each person that has gifted me a particular bead or why I have one bead or another.  Before long it feels like my blood pressure has lowered and I am in a meditative mood.  Some beads were gifted to me in Copenhagen, some were sent as holiday gifts and some are special because they were favorites of my grandson when he was young.  Some of the old uniques are special because I can laugh as I remember years ago trying to take images for the website with none of the expertise I slowly discovered along the way.  Yes, there are some beads I have just because I adore them and because of the beauty and that makes me happy too.  But one thing that Trollbeads continues to add are bracelets and necklaces as I said the canvases for us to use.
